Mariner - Customer Service A/R Software

Problem:

More than one of our clients has requested that we create a user-friendly interface to access their customer billing information. With such features as browser access, TCP/IP network availability, public website access and scalability we were quick to accept the challenge.

Solution:

Employing Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) we were able to attach our Mariner application to most modern databases. Beacon's Enterprise Application Manager was integrated into the design to maintain a high level of application security while allowing access to many user types (employees, vendors and customers) from various network connections (Intranet/Internet).

By placing the custom designed browser based user interface over the company's existing database software many advances over the old green screen dumb terminals can be realized without major changes to existing data. Access via the TCP/IP based LAN/WAN or the Internet can be configured through Web Enabled Software running on the company's web server.

Scalability is enhanced by the multi-criteria account/service/meter look up facilities. . Single-click access to Customer Information, Financial Detail, Equipment Records and Work Order Information speeds data access for the Customer Service Representative. The customers may view a more limited compilation of data through the secure Customer Interface on the public web-site.

By adapting existing Legacy Systems to current technologies a cost effective solution was achieved.
